The Snake Island is also known as St. Thomas Island. It falls within the borders of Ropotamo Reserve, next to Primorsko at the southern Black Sea coast. The name refers to the grey water snakes that inhabit the island. It has an area of 12 acres. Wild cacti grow on the island. They were planted by Tsar Boris the Third in 1933 and today take up most of the island and make it almost inaccessible.
