The lion’s head is a rock formation of syenite blocks and declared a natural monument. Its age is estimated to be 65-70 million years; it stands 80 m above the Ropotamo River in an area where the main asphalt road Sozopol – Primorsko goes parallel to the river. It is hugely popular as it is noticeable from travelling vehicles. The lion’s head is within the range of the Ropotamo Reserve and it can be reached by the tourist trail. This spot attracts tourists due to the beautiful forest nature, panoramic views to the surroundings of the reserve, and the opportunity to see sites of archeological interest.
